Neurology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the nervous system. This branch includes the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to CNS (brain and spinal cord) and PNS (autonomic nervous system and spinal cord). Neurological disorders include multiple sclerosis, brain cancers, and spinal cord disorders.

Some most common surgeries in Neurology  by Midhacare include:

Aneurysm Repair

The walls of the artery can not to maintain the required pressure against the blood flow when they are weak. It causes the vessels to swell, and if the bulge becomes too large, it can rupture. This swelling is an emergent situation that requires treatment immediately as it causes bleeding into the CSF around the brain and hematoma. The two standard methods to repair Aneurysm are open craniotomy and Endovascular repair surgery. The procedure for Aneurysm repair follows as, through a small cut, a catheter reaches the vessel where the bulge is present. Thin metal wires are put into the Aneurysm, and they coil around to prevent it from breaking or opening. Furthermore, after the surgery blood thinner’s such as heparin or aspirin will  given to the patient

Carotid Artery Endarterect

This procedure is also called endothelium artery. The main blood vessel that provides blood to the brain is the Carotid artery. When a person experiences Carotid artery disease as a result of plaque caused by Atherosclerosis builds up inside the artery causing a blockage. It is a surgical procedure which is performed to reduce the risk of stroke. In this procedure, the surgeons remove the plaque inside the inner layer known as the endothelium. An alternative method which enlarges the artery is angioplasty or stenting to avoid surgery

Craniotomy

For this type of procedure in neurology, the brain is accessed for tumor removal or foreign material removal or to treat fractures. This procedure is performed by removing a portion of the skull bone

Disk Removal

In neurology it is the removal of the herniated disk present in the lower back, causing pressure on the nerves. There are three ways to relieve this pressure. First is the  open discectomy through which the herniated disc is removed. Second is the  Endoscopic spine surgery through which the portion of the disc causing pressure is removed and thirdly, Surgery on the core of the spinal disc in this procedure the surgeon through instruments finds access to the center and uses vacuum to remove the core.
